Deciding early that the
world around him looked most interesting through a camera's viewfinder, Jeff
has been taking photographs almost as long as he can remember.
Armed with various
cameras and a desire to explore the side of his subjects less seen by the world
at large, Jeff has turned his energies in the past several years to creating
expressive portraits. Unlike some portrait photographers, Jeff's
goal is never to try and sum up the personalities of his subjects in a single
image. Instead, he views his photographs as imperfect
reflections as likely to show his subjects as they can be, than as they or the
world have decided they really "are".
A great portrait is
the result of a true collaboration between photographer and subject.
For Jeff, the portrait
settingwherever it occursis less about a photographer "taking" a
photograph as it is about "making" one, with the active involvement and
participation of his subjects.
Jeff lives and works in
the Seattle area, enjoying all the diversity of his surroundings.
His subjects are men, women and couples of every size, shape, age and
persuasion.
